Cardeux NEL

Co-Founder and Physiotherapist

Cardeux is an experienced physiotherapist with a strong focus on sports injury management, running-related conditions and acute injury diagnosis. With a lifelong background in sport, she brings a practical and hands-on approach to treatment. Combining clear diagnostics, education, and structured rehabilitation is an integral part of her process to address the root cause rather than just the symptoms.

Growing up in South Africa, Cardeux started field hockey at the age of three and represented her country at her first World Championships at 11. That early exposure to high-level sport shaped both her understanding of performance and her passion for physiotherapy.

After graduating in South Africa, she worked across a broad range of sporting environments, including club rugby, Springboks 2015 Rugby World Cup preparations, Free State and KwaZulu-Natal field hockey, and as a travelling physiotherapist for Perth Glory football. She also spent five years working with the Comrades ultramarathon (which she ran in 2024) and supported multiple Hong Kong trail races and runners.

Hong Kong further strengthened Cardeux’s passion for running and endurance sport. Working all levels of runners has deepened her understanding of chronic running-related injuries. She uses video gait analysis alongside individualised rehabilitation programming to boost performance. Having also rehabilitated an ACL and meniscus injury herself, she brings firsthand insight into the physical and mental aspects of recovery.

In 2022, Cardeux helped establish Nomad in Niseko, Japan, where she gained extensive experience treating acute injuries including ACL, MCL, and meniscus injuries, shoulder dislocations, wrist fractures, whiplash, and concussions. She has since started working with youth national Hong Kong skiers and snowboarders, focusing on injury prevention and performance as they start their professional careers.

Cardeux’s approach is built on thorough assessment, clear goal setting, and structured rehabilitation, with manual therapy, soft tissue release, joint mobilisation, and dry needling incorporated where appropriate. She values a personalised treatment approach and creating a space where clients feel heard and safe.
